Fire Breaks Out At Old Hudepohl Brewery

From Fox19:

The fire started in the old Hudepohl Brewery at 801 West 6th Street. Metal welders were working inside the building when the blaze broke out. District 2 fire units arrived on the scene to find heavy fire on the first floor and black smoke exiting the windows from all three stories.

Authorities say the blaze was able to be controlled in about 20 minutes thanks to aggressive attacks from firefighters.

The building is where Hudepohl used to brew their beers until moving locations in the mid 1980s. The smoke stack on the structure still reads ‘Hudepohl' and can be seen from numerous areas throughout downtown. The building has been vacant for several years according to Fire Chief Thomas Parker.
