West Flanders Single Keg Series “Brett On The Broncos” Coming 1/16 - CEASE & DESIST- New Name: Omaha! Omaha! Brett!

From West Flanders Brewing:

This week's Single Keg Series beer at West Flanders Brewing (Boulder, CO) is a unique "AFC Champion Style Ale" we call Brett on the Broncos.  It's our Obfuscation Trippel blended with a special batch of our Angry Monk Belgian-style golden ale that was fermented with a Brettanomyces yeast from Belgium's famed Lambic region.

This bold, foretelling beer was also dry-hopped with locally grown Cascade hops (from Oelsner Hop Farm in Niwot, CO) for an extra bite on its finale.

Like the Denver Broncos offense, it's a winning, gloriously golden wonder deep with unstoppable flavors and wild and thrilling excitement. (Sorry Peyton, this is no light beer.)

"The Brettanomyces yeast adds some wonderful and very appropriate barnyard notes and aromas of horse blankets," notes West Flanders head brewer Brian Lutz. "And unlike Tom Brady or Bill Belichick, there's nothing winey about the beer and we didn't cheat to make it."

To avoid anyone videotaping and stealing our methods for creating Brett on the Broncos, we crafted the beer with the utmost secrecy in our brewpub.

Savvy, exceptional and rich with horsepower, Brett on the Broncos features a hearty kick of approximately 7.2% ABV. It goes great with a broad array of our West Flanders Brewing fare.

Note: this beer is much too strong of a match for New England-style chowder or Boston-baked beans.

Brett on the Broncos -- like each of our weekly Single Keg Series beers -- goes on tap at West Flanders on Thursday at 5 PM.

UPDATE  CEASE & DESIST!

Much to our surprise, we've just received a cease & desist letter from the legal department of the National Football League regarding our new Brett On the Broncos beer. No joke.

The letter from the NFL says West Flanders Brewing is "... engaging in unauthorized promotional use of the NFL Marks (including inter alia, the AFC word mark and the Denver Broncos word mark and color combination) in connection with the promotion of your business..."

Of course, we don’t know what inter alia means. Nor did we think anything about the name would bother the NFL. But we are certainly big fans of the Denver Broncos, the AFC, and the colors blue and orange.

Furthermore, West Flanders Brewing (at 1125 Pearl Street, Boulder, Colorado, for more details visitwww.wfbrews.com ) doesn't want to offend any of those important NFL properties.

We also have the highest respect for the legal department of the NFL, and we want to amicably resolve this matter "by January 18" so we can enjoy the game that afternoon.

So West Flanders management has contacted the NFL and told them we’ll work up a new name for Brett on the Broncos.

In the meantime, anyone with suggestions for a new name for the beer can post their suggestions at https://www.facebook.com/WestFlandersBrewingCo.

To avoid offending anyone else, we're inviting the players and coaches from the NFL's Massachusetts-basedprofessional football team to a complimentary West Flanders Brewing meal, with West Flanders beers included. The team-only meal is scheduled for 1-4 PM MST this Sunday.

We hope to see the entire team at our place. We'll have a special seat reserved for Josh McDaniels (next to special guest Jay Cutler), and West Flanders Brewing hoodies for the entire coaching staff.

Until then: Go Wild or Only Partially Tamed Horses of the Western US Plains!

UPDATE:

To avoid any more unnecessary roughness from the NFL, we called an audible and renamed the beer: Omaha! Omaha! Brett!

We don't think the folks in Nebraska will mind.

The beers new description is: After Formal Complaint Championship Game Ale.

Have a lovely weekend.

Go Broncos!
