Frankenmuth Imperial Stout 2014 Coming 1/23

We brought you news of this beer, and now the official press release from Frankenmuth:

This is the fifth year Frankenmuth Brewery will be releasing a limited supply of its Imperial Stout and it’s quickly being recognized as “one” bottle you have to get your hands on for both the brew and commemorative bottle.

Unlike most Russian-American style stouts, Frankenmuth’s Imperial Stout is made as a lager and not an ale. Lagers are brewed using colder temperatures so the yeast ferments more slowly allowing the malts and hops to assert their flavors over time. The 2014 Imperial Stout first hit the tanks in December 2012 and has gracefully aged over a year, allowing its robust flavor and smooth finish to shine and complement this 10% alcohol by volume brew.

“Our Imperial Stout is black as coal, with a smooth warming mouth feel and just enough hop presence and roasted barley to push the flavor over the top,” says Jeff Coon, Frankenmuth’s Brewmaster.

This year Frankenmuth Brewery will release its 2014 Imperial Stout at the brewery for sale to the public during Frankenmuth’s Snowfest week on Thursday, January 23rd. Only 1680 bottles will be available, up from 1300 last year, all hand-packaged in 1 liter, flip top bottles making it one of the most sought after limited edition annual brews in the state. Each bottle is individually numbered on the label to validate its uniqueness. Frankenmuth Brewery provides info on the back label for buyers to register their limited edition bottle and preserve their piece of history. For more information, visit www.frankenmuthbrewery.com.
