From the Wall St Journal:
Five breweries in Germany, Europe's biggest beer producer, face millions in fines after the country's antitrust authority said Monday they had colluded to fix prices between 2006 and 2008.
The Federal Cartel Office will impose fines totaling 106.5 million euros ($145.6 million) on Bitburger Braugruppe, Krombacher Brauerei, Veltins, Warsteiner, and Privatbrauerei Ernst Barre, along with seven individuals connected to the breweries.
Anheuser-Busch InBev, the world's largest brewer by sales, was exempted from penalties because a German unit brought the collusion to light, the cartel office said.
It said Krombacher, Bitburger, Veltins and Warsteiner were spared higher fines because they cooperated with the investigation. The breweries can still appeal the fines.
