SAN ANTONIO, TX (January 10, 2014/mbb/) — Busted Sandal Brewing Company has released its new Headlights IPA which is a unique beer crafted to benefit the fight against breast cancer. This special beer is a collaboration between Busted Sandal Brewing Company and Vera Deckard, founder and brewer of the coming San Antonio Brewing Company.
Twenty-five percent of all Headlights IPA sales will go to benefit Susan G. Komen San Antonio and donation boxes will be provided to locations to allow their customers to donate for the cause as well.
“We hope everyone has the opportunity to try this limited edition beer. We not only wanted to create an IPA that was approachable for everyone, but also help make a difference and raise awareness for breast cancer,” said Michael DiCicco, founder of Busted Sandal Brewing. “It was a very special collaboration and means a lot to us.”
“It was great brewing and collaborating with Busted Sandal Brewing Company. It was so much fun and gave me a wonderful perspective on what it’s like to brew in a brewer the size of theirs,” said Mrs. Deckard. “In addition, it was an amazing opportunity to help support Susan G. Komen San Antonio.”
The Headlights IPA hop profile is very unique using New Zealand Nelson Sauvin hops which impart a white wine characteristic give it a Sauvignon Blanc “crushed grape” flavor and a nice citrus aroma is provided by whole-leaf Citra hops. From the base malt sourced from France to the Munich and organic caramel malt, a delicate malt profile is formed. Combine that with oat flakes to provide a silky smooth mouth feel, and a blend of yeasts to impart a tart but clean finish, Headlights IPA is designed to be welcoming and approachable to everyone. This limited edition beer is 6.6 percent ABV and 51 IBU and is available in San Antonio, Texas and the surrounding area.
