Bristol Brewing Company announces a new beer in its Community Ales series, Give! Black Lager, a German-style schwarzbier. In keeping with the tradition of its Community Ales program, the brewery will donate 100 percent of the profits from the new brew to the 2013 Give! campaign and the 59 nonprofit organizations in its 2013 class. The Give! campaign is powered by the Colorado Springs Independent and the Pikes Peak Community Foundation, who will come together with Bristol and its community-minded customers to celebrate the release of Give! Black Lager on Nov. 20 from 5-9pm at the brewery’s pub.

The brewery describes the beer this way: Give! Black Lager is the lightest dark beer you'll ever love. Though cloaked in a deep reddish-brown hue, this beer's lager roots ensure a quaff that's clean, mild, and at 5.5 percent ABV, utterly sessionable. Munich and Carafa Dehusk malts impart a smooth breadiness and mellow roast flavor, while Czech and German hops weigh in gently for a brew you just have to sip to believe.

The release of this Community Ale will usher in a fun, new twist in beer philanthropy. Customers who buy a pint of Give! Black Lager either at Old Chicago or the Bristol Pub will be given a ballot and allowed to vote for their favorite of the 59 nonprofits in this year’s Give! Campaign. $2.00 from the sale of that customer’s pint will be donated to the non-profit he or she voted for.

"This is a great opportunity to make our Community Ales work even harder, because not just one, but 59 nonprofits will have the chance to benefit,” said Mike Bristol, owner of Bristol Brewing Co. "We especially appreciate Old Chicago coming on board to support the cause. It's a unique beer style and a tasty beer, so we’re hoping a lot of people will help out by enjoying a pint or two."

The beer will be available for a limited time only on draught and exclusively at the Bristol Pub and at all four Old Chicago Restaurants in Colorado Springs.

“While the money is much needed, of greater importance is that this initiative will spark 6,000 new beer-infused conversations about Give! and the importance of supporting our local nonprofits with funds that stay in our community,” said John Weiss, Co-Chair of the Give! Campaign and Publisher of the Colorado Springs Independent.
