MT. PLEASANT, S.C., Oct. 15, 2013 /mbb/ -- Humboldt Brewing Company, formerly Nectar Ales, is excited to debut new branding, packaging and a new limited release Double IPA, 500 B.C. Reverting back to the company's original name of Humboldt Brewing Company honors the brand's Humboldt County, California roots and a proud 26-year heritage, while attracting a new generation of environmentally conscious beer lovers.

"While the beer recipes remain the same, Humboldt Brewing Company's new packaging better showcases the spirit of the brand," said Tom Rose, Director of Sales and Marketing. "Now the three iconic flavor varieties – Red Nectar, Nectar IPA and Humboldt Brown Hemp Ale – all exist as part of the same brand, carrying the mark of consistent quality to consumers."

Since its debut in 1987, Humboldt Brewing Company has operated with a commitment to the environment by employing innovative sustainable practices – from reusing cooling water in the brewing process, to printing on recycled paperboard with soy-based inks.

The introduction of limited release brew 500 B.C. Double IPA offers an opportunity to further that commitment: Humboldt Brewing Company will donate $1 from every case of 500 B.C. sold to help preserve the coastal redwoods of Humboldt County. The name 500 B.C. is a tribute to the coastal redwoods that populate the original brewery's home county, trees that are some of the longest-living species in North America. Available in late October, 500 B.C. will be sold in 22-ounce bottles.

To coincide with the new brand, Humboldt Brewing Company has redesigned the packaging of its current brews: Red Nectar, Nectar IPA and Humboldt Brown Hemp Ale. The updated brand imagery will include the iconic hummingbird that graced previous versions of the label.
