NEW YORK, Oct. 9, 2013 /mbb/ -- According to a new study, margaritas are the nation's favorite cocktail, despite the fact that Americans believe tequila is more likely to cause a hangover than any other drink. Blowfish, the only FDA-registered over-the-counter drug specifically formulated to treat hangovers, today released The Blowfish National Hangover Study, a new set of data detailing the nation's drinking and hangover behaviors among Americans over the age of 21. The study reveals surprising insights into how gender, age, geography, and even political affiliation impact our drinking habits and experiences with hangovers, including interesting facts ranging from the hobby associated with the heaviest drinking – playing hockey – to the profession that gets the most hangovers – engineer – to the state that drinks the most – Maine.
”
Through this study, we have gathered a new set of data demonstrating that hangovers are a fact of life for the vast majority of drinkers, further validating our mission to provide consumers with an effective remedy for the common hangover," explains Brenna Haysom, Founder and CEO of Blowfish for Hangovers. "According to the findings, a quarter of Americans rate their average hangover as a seven or higher on the severity scale, half of the population has been hungover at work, and almost a third of people report that their worst hangover was on an ordinary day – not after a special occasion."
Beginning October 8, consumers can visit forhangovers.com to view the results of the national study in Intoxication Nation, an interactive digital experience that details overall trends in drinking and hangovers from regional distinctions to gender and age differences, and more. In addition to findings from the study, dynamic maps visualize current conversation levels and what people are saying about drinking and hangovers, populated by real-time updates and live feeds that pull in social data from Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr and Vine via a combination of open source and third-party data providers.
