Dark Horse Brewery of Marshal, MI has teamed up with Remarkable Liquids to handle their Hudson Valley and Central NY distribution. Product will hit key markets November 11. The Western NY launch is anticipated for May 2014 but will be dependent on the breweries capacity and current expansion.
The Dark Horse story begins in 1997 when Aaron Morse opened a small brewpub that evolved into a production facility with a pub attached in 2000. Since then, what is known as the “Dark Horse Compound” has expanded to include a general store, skate shop, outdoor biergarten/concert venue, metal shop, saw mill, barrel aging facility and sugar shack(maple syrup production facility). The breweries D.I.Y. ethos are conveyed in everything they do from heating the brewery with their self-built wood burning steam heater to the recently constructed coolship welded by the owner himself. “We are a hands on brewery, I enjoy getting intimate with my beers” says Founder Aaron Morse.
Their famed flagship “Crooked Tree IPA” is intensely dry hopped with a pine and citrus aroma. The flavors are big, yet expertly balanced between hops and malt. Rounding out their portfolio will be the Reserve Special Black Ale, (Belgian)Amber Ale, Boffo Brown and Raspberry Ale. Dark Horse will also be release the raucous seasonal: Scotty Karate Scotch Ale, clocking in at 9.75% ABV along with limited amounts of their famed Stout Series.
“While the crew at Remarkable Liquids are a little light on facial hair, they’re just crazy enough to sell our beer” says Mike Earnhart, Head of Sales. “We have been in discussions for just over a year and I am ecstatic to finally see this partnership move forward.”
“I am growing a beard in preparation for the November launch” says Jeremy Irving of Remarkable Liquids. “It’s actually in the contract that we have one bearded sales person on the street; Aaron [Morse] was adamant about this!”
