We brought you a peek at this beer, and now the official press release from Redhook:
Redhook
likes a little nip in the air. To celebrate the turn of the season, the Northwest’s original craft brewery announced today the release of its Winterhook Ale, which has been an end-of-year staple since the Reagan Administration.
Regardless of whether you spend your winter months on the slopes, shoveling your driveway, or just hiding out, Redhook Winterhook Ale is a great way to chase off the winter chill. This year is Redhook’s 29th consecutive release of Winterhook with a new recipe every year.
Winterhook is dark and rich with roasted notes that make shorter days and cooler weather a little easier to ingest. Rye malt and Centennial hop spiciness balance an initial malty sweetness, with plenty of hop aroma on the warm finish. Winterhook #29 is a flavorful concoction, and drinkable enough to spend a few hours gazing at the fire. ABV 6.0%, IBU 45.
Said Karmen Olson, Redhook Brand Manager, “After brewing a unique recipe each year for nearly three decades, Winterhook has become a seasonal tradition. Our 29th recipe is a great cold weather beer for the living room, the lounge, or the lodge.”
Redhook is accompanying the release of its latest Winterhook with the “UGH or FUG?” ugly sweater contest on Facebook. Beginning in November, beer lovers can enter and vote on the most visually repellant holiday sweaters at www.Facebook.com/RedhookAleBrewery. The winning sweater will be featured at Redhook Brewery and its owner gets a $500 bar tab.
