Beer Can House Becomes Houston Landmark

From MSN:

John Milkovisch was recycling before it was fashionable. In the early 1970s, the Houston upholsterer began using the empty cans from the beer he and his wife, Mary, enjoyed — a six-pack each day over about 20 years — to fashion aluminum siding for his house. It took him about 17 months to cover the whole house with 50,000 flattened Budweiser, Texas Pride and Shiner cans — whatever had been on sale. Milkovisch made beer-top garlands and strung them from the eaves of the modest home. Now, years after the couple had died, the house is a folk-art tourist attraction. But even when John was alive, people would drive by and honk in appreciation. Sometimes he'd invite them in for a beer. [Source]
