From New Belgium:
On Thursday, June 6, 1,500 people joined BikeWalkKC at Theis Park for New Belgium Brewery’s Clips Beer and Film Tour. About 400 people arrived to the event by bicycle. By the end of the night, about 300 bicycles filled the bike valet parking area, and at least 100 more bikes were locked to trees and benches.
The audience enjoyed short films made by New Belgium fans once the sun went down. While some people came for the films, others undoubtedly came to sample some of the unique and difficult-to-find New Belgium brews from one of 16 taps.
More than $12,000 was raised to support BikeWalkKC’s work to improve walking and bicycling across the metro area, including:
- Advocating for more bike lanes, trails, crosswalks, and law enforcement
- Teaching bike skills and bike safety to families and local schools
- Encouraging motorists to share the road
- Improving policies and programs to support walking and biking to school
- Expanding the Kansas City B-cycle bike share system
"New Belgium's Clips Beer and Film Tour is always such a fantastic event, and we were so excited to see such a great turnout," said Eric Rogers, Executive Director of BikeWalkKC.
BikeWalkKC also signed up 17 new members at the event. Congratulations to Jeff Tromans who went home with the New Belgium cruiser.
Special thanks go out to:
- The awesome crew from New Belgium Brewery
- Our 50-plus hard-working volunteers
- The volunteers at Keep Kansas City Beautiful for recycling, composting, and waste disposal. Thanks to them, 94% of the waste was either composted or recycled.
- KC Parks and Recreation Dept
- KCPD officers
