From Miller Coors:
DENVER, May 16, 2013 /mbb/ -- While some bars follow fads, there are certain establishments that are more timeless. Places where straight-shooting bartenders give beer drinkers a Banquet and a smile after a long day's work. Today, Coors Banquet announced it is recognizing two select bars from across the country the brand believes are the Best Banquet Bars in America. This year, Lottie's Pub in Chicago and Morrison Holiday Bar in Morrison, Colo., are receiving this first-ever distinction.
No easy task, the bars were chosen based on input from beer drinkers and company employees looking to identify places that evoke the spirit of the 140 year-old beer, a beer that has consistently been brewed in the same brewery in Golden, Colo., with 100 percent Rocky Mountain water and high country barley since its creation.
"Great beers develop special personalities, especially when they have been around for a long time. That personality resides in the beer, its bars and its consumers," said Pete Coors, MillerCoors chairman and great-grandson of Coors Brewing Co. founder Adolph Coors. "These establishments truly personify our shared principles of heritage, hard work and unwavering values."
Each bar will be presented a plaque and a piece of authentic Coors Banquet memorabilia by Pete Coors as a symbol of appreciation and commitment to the brand. These bars and their patrons will also receive a sneak preview of the brand's newest offering, the Banquet Bottle, this month.
Available nationwide starting June 1, the new 12-ounce bottle is modeled after the brand's post-prohibition bottle, showcasing a shorter, stubbier look that harkens to the brand's history. Coors Banquet will utilize this 1936-inspired design year-round in bars, restaurants and in all 6-pack configurations.
"In the past, we've mainly focused on telling our story and honoring a few of our own legendary customers," said Coors. "Designating what we think are the 'Best Banquet Bars in America' allows us to thank and acknowledge those bars and their customers who have contributed so significantly to the success of this legendary beer."
Lottie's Pub:
- As one of the top selling Coors Banquet bars in Chicago, what you see is what you get – a good old neighborhood tavern that's always been there for its patrons.
- Since opening in 1934, this bar's identity remains true to its roots, with little cosmetic changes over the years. Regulars flock to their same spot at the bar as it continues to treat them right.
Morrison Holiday Bar:
- Known by regulars as "the local cure," this bar is a relatively undiscovered treasure in the small foothills town of Morrison.
- On weekends, everyone from bikers to locals pack the bar to enjoy the cold beer and live music that the Holiday has to offer.
