Real Ale Brewing

is pleased to announce the release of two new 12 oz. can packages –Four-Squared Dry-Hopped Ale and Hans’ Pils German Style Pilsner.

Four-Squared Dry-Hopped Ale was first brewed last year as part of the brewery’s 16th Anniversary celebration and was a draft only release. It returns this year as a seasonal release in both cans and draft. We start with the basic Firemans #4 Blonde Ale recipe, add more of our premium 2-row malted barley, then add massive charges of hops to give some bulk to this burly blonde. The clean, dry finish and the signature Crystal and Glacier hops are still there — we’ve simply multiplied it like crazy. Add to that Herkules, Amarillo and a round of dry-hopping, and you’re left with notes of citrus and a substantial hop flavor and aroma.

The great pilsner beers of Germany, specifically Northern Germany, are the inspiration for our first year-round lager – Hans’ Pils. These beers are known for being hoppier than the average pilsner, and ours is no exception. In fact, at 52 IBU’s, it is hoppier than many pale ales. The featured hop in this beer is the spicy and herbal Tettnang Tettnanger hop. German pilsner malt yields a pale golden color and provides the perfect support for our blend of German hops. Our house German yeast strain ferments clean and dry, which further adds to the authenticity of Hans’ Pils. In 2012 Hans’ Pils won a silver medal at the Great American Beer Festival in the German Style Pilsner category with more than 50 entries.

This edition of Four-Squared will be available April through late July or early August. Hans’ Pils will now be available all year. Both can be enjoyed on draught or in cans throughout Texas. “We are very excited to offer these two new cans to the Texas craft beer drinker – they are both great styles to enjoy outdoors this summer,” says Brad Farbstein, president of Real Ale.
