Percy St Philadelphia To Light 1,700 Beer Can Tree 12/12 w/21st Amendment Marooned On Hog Island

imageA great event coming soon at Percy St Barbecue in Philly.  Details from Jennie Hatton:

PHILADELPHIA, PA – On Wednesday, December 12 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., the city’s top spot for barbecue and craft canned beers, Percy Street (900 South Street, 215-625-8510), will host their second-annual Craft Can Christmas Tree Lighting, illuminating a tree made up of over 1,700 craft beer cans. The event will also double as the release party for 21st Amendment’s Marooned on Hog Island oyster stout, brewed with Hog Island Oyster Company’s oyster shells and available in Philadelphia exclusively at Percy Street. The tree will be lit at 7 p.m. by “Santa Claus” who will be, of course, drinking a canned beer.

“Our epic Craft Can Christmas Tree is a fun and festive way to honor two of our favorite things: the holidays and canned beer,” says General Manager Aric Ferrell. “This year’s tree lighting promises to be even bigger than last year – and so does the epic tree!”

The striking 12-foot tree took Ferrell and Percy Street staff member Desiree Howie, who is also a local artist, more than 60 hours to assemble. The restaurant has been collecting cans for weeks to meet the demand of the tree, which features an increase of more than 1200 over last year’s (still striking) 500+can inaugural version (see below).

The restaurant’s absurdly comprehensive all-can beer list was named the #1 Most Cantastic Place to Grab a Can of Craft Beer in America by CraftCans.com and showcases a wealth of rare and exclusive offerings.
