Mikkeller Barrel-Aged “Black The Black Edition” (Barrel-Aged on Itself)

imageOur original post is here for Mikkeller Barrel-Aged Black The Black Edition…and now the full story form Mikkeller:

Barrel aged Black the Black edition is a new beer from Mikkeller.

And I do mean Black the Black, not Back in Black, as a reference to AC/DC’s amazing album, not Big and Black as a reference to the world famous adult movie, that I’m sure all readers of this blog are familiar with. No, I do mean Black the Black edition.

Let me explain to you how the beer is made.

We took Mikkellers imperial stout Black and distilled it at Braunstein distillery. The alcohol we got out of it was storaged in American bourbon casks. Now distilled Black was poured into bottles, and as soon as the bourbon cask was empty we filled it again, but this time with our imperial stout Black.

In this way, one can say that Black has been barrel aged on itself.

Barrel aged Black the Black edition is the only beer in the world that has been barrel aged on its own barrel. That alone make this unique beer is a must for all beer geeks and Mikkeller freaks to try.

You can buy distilled Black aged on Rum, Bourbon and Oloroso casks in our web shop, click here for immediate access to Mikkeller’s Webshop.

The beer Black the Black edition that has been barrel aged on its own cask can be purchased where you usually buy your Mikkeller beers.

Black is the new Black.
