Elysian Savant IPA Coming In Mid-Jan 2012 & Bete Blanche is Back

From Elysian: (renaming story for this beer  is here)

You know this. You remember this beer. Its name, its taste--and its memory--right on the tip of your tongue. That fierce bitterness and that wonderful Passion Fruity hop flavor and aroma. Maybe you can't quite place it. But it'll come to you, around mid-January, in 22 oz. bottles and on draft in places that get it. Savant IPA is making its second appearance in the Elysian Manic IPA series, but under a smart new name. There's no confusion. This is that beer.

Last year Savant was called something else, something--what was it?--Inane? Stupid? Foolish? Something maybe too clever to share with the wider world. There was certainly some silliness. But whatever its name, it's the same great beer, bittered with Northwest Chinook and drenched with New Zealand Nelson Sauvin hops. Brewed with Maris-Otter pale, Munich and Cara-Red and Crisp 120° Starting gravity 17° Plato, 6.25% ABV, 66 IBUs.

Don't give up. We know you'll get it. Think. Drink. It's wiser than the others. Savant IPA. It's the same terrific beer, with the same monkey, and a different name.

Magic mirrors don't lie, and ours tells us that Bete Blanche Belgian-style Tripel is back, in six-packs and 22 oz. bottles and on draft. Enjoy the gift of its golden glow, offered by our blue-eyed and flaxen-haired witch to all our fair friends. Its crisp fruitiness and warmth carries winter on toward spring, beginning February ---. Bete Blanche may sound like a challenge, but it is smooth and extremely drinkable, conceived and brewed in the tradition of the great blonde ales of Belgium.

Bete Blanche still manages to be somewhat treacherous, though not in the same way as some fairy-tale apples we could name. Brewed with 100% Northwest pale malt, with sugar added to the boil, bittered with German Northern Brewer and finished with Slovenian Styrian Goldings hops, it is fermented with Belgian ale yeast to an alcohol content of 7.4% by volume. Share it with your friends in the village, down the road and at the next cottage.
