Looks like our pal Mark Carpenter has an exciting new brew up his sleeve. Today we get our first look at the 22oz and 12oz bottle (and keg) labels for Anchor Brewing’s new California Lager. This beer is a tribute to the original California Lager created in 1876 by a brewery named Boca. These beers pre-dated refrigeration, so brewing a lager style beer was a daunting task. Anchor California Lager uses two-row California Barley and Cluster hops (a popular hop in the 19th century in California) as well as their house lager yeast and krausening so it should be tasty. This beer appears to be the same recipe as the Anchor Zymaster Series No 1 California Lager. Stay tuned for release details.
