PORTLAND, Ore. – Nov. 7, 2012 – Craft Brew Alliance, Inc. (CBA) (Nasdaq: BREW), an independent craft brewing company operating Kona Brewing Company, Omission Beer, Redhook Brewery and Widmer Brothers Brewing, won 12 medals at the 2012 Great International Beer & Cider Competition held on Nov. 2 in Providence, RI. Kona took home two awards, including gold for the new-to-the-mainland Big Wave Golden Ale. Omission Lager and Pale Ale secured the gold and the silver medals in the gluten-free beer category. Redhook won three medals, including two gold medals. Widmer Brothers received an impressive five medals with three first-place rankings.

The Great International Beer & Cider Competition included 470 beers and ciders from breweries and cideries across the U.S. and around the world. Awards for first, second and third place were presented in 44 categories of ales, lagers and ciders. Judging was carried out as a blind tasting. The judges were informed only of the style and subcategory of each beer and cider.
