Making Stout Into Candy…

PRLog (Press Release) - Oct 06, 2012/mbb/ - Medford, OR – Craft beer lovers everywhere will soon have a new way to savor a great brew. Pete's Gourmet Confections will unveil their Stout Beer Bites candy at this weekend's 75th Annual National Beer Wholesalers Association Convention in San Diego, CA.

The new candies are the only sweets made specifically for the beer aisle in your local grocery store. “With this new recipe,” says Peter Croyle, owner and brewmaster, "we've elevated beer-based treats to the level of craft brewing."  Bringing together fresh ingredients, everything found in a great stout beer and considerable candy-making genius, the malty flavor and chestnut hue should be a familiar experience to beer enthusiasts.

Beer Bites,” says Croyle, “are really the culmination of being a dedicated home brewer, a micro-hop yard farmer and a confectioner. This is a newly invented candy that will have beer lovers and non-beer lovers alike will be wagging their tongues.”
Brewed in small batches, Beer Bites are an alcohol-free mixture of handcrafted chocolate stout beer and a nougat confection. The candy begins by combining roasted barley, chocolate malt, roasted oats and dark crystal malt. The master brewer then blends in cascade and nugget hops. Another treat in the time-honored tradition from Pete’s Gourmet Confections, these inventive sweets are the only brew for the road.
