Victory Updates: No Pumpkin Beer, No New Dark Intrigue & No Bottled Session Beers

This may sound like a negative post, but it’s actually a pretty interesting Q&A from Victory:

Q: Any chance you guys will/are making a pumpkin beer for the fall?
A: The simple fact of the matter is that Ron and Bill are not fans of pumpkin beers. When asked this question, Bill responded: “We hate to deny our fans a Victory version, but the passion is simply not within us to make one. What constitutes a great pumpkin beer if you think that the style simply sucks?”

Q: I was wondering if we’ll see Dark Intrigue again this year.
A: With two great batches of Dark Intrigue under our belts, both figuratively and literally, we believe it’s time to shift our focus toward other opportunities. We are pretty sure you’ll be pleased with where our muses lead us when late November rolls around this year…

Q:
I like a good roasty stout, but Donnybrook is a bit too low in alcohol and Storm King is quite a bit too high in alcohol for my taste. Have you ever considered a medium-strength stout – say around 6 % ABV?
A: This is an interesting idea that we’ve never considered, though we have made porters approaching 6%. It’s certainly a thought for future brewing. Thanks.

Q: I am a big fan of Summer Love. Is it considered a Kolsch style Ale?
A: Summer Love is not a Kolsch style ale, though we can see why you might place it near that style. It can be classified as a “blonde ale,” which is a style permitted to display a broad range of characteristics. We feel that Summer Love Ale brings both excitement and comfort to the blonde ale category. The citrusy nose promises the excitement of an IPA, while the European hops in the middle give it earthy and comfortable familiarity. After all, blondes do have more fun.

Q: I’ve come to really crave good, craft brewed session beers–they are hard to find. It’d be great to see more beers that are smooth, tasty and around 4% alcohol in six packs or cases. How about brewing something like Uncle Teddy’s or an ESB or pale-ale style beer that’s smooth, loaded with flavor and (in relative terms) light on the alcohol.
A: We agree that there is need for bottled session beers, but our bottled beer portfolio is just too crowded to allow another right now. Some of these kids have to move out of the house someday!
