I brought you the original details and the original keg label for a custom brewed beer by Sly Fox called Pub Pale Ale and it’s launch at select Wegman’s. Now comes word that The Pub @ Wegman’s will open in select locations as a full-service restaurant & bar:
KING OF PRUSSIA, PA – Recently, Wegmans, one of the country’s leading supermarket chains, introduced The Pub at Wegmans (www.wegmans.com/thepub), a full-service restaurant and bar serving comforting American cuisine in their Malvern, PA (50 Foundry Way, 484-913-9660), King of Prussia, PA (1 Village Drive, 484-690-3560) and Collegeville, PA (600 Commerce Drive, 484-902-1560) store locations. Led by their executive chefs and inspired by the incomparably fresh ingredients sold on-site in the store, they have created an inspired array of dishes that go beyond typical pub standards. The restaurant offers cocktails, wine available by the bottle or glass and an extensive selection of craft beers, including Pub Pale Ale, made by local favorite Sly Fox Brewery and only available at The Pub at Wegmans.
“Our customers know they can count on us for the freshest produce, meat, fish and other groceries throughout the year – so who better to prepare and serve seasonal cuisine than The Pub, located right inside our grocery store?” says Kathy Haines, director of Wegmans in-store restaurants and Market-Cafes.
The Pub at Wegmans boasts an inventive menu of American cuisine, with a wealth of offerings that include soups, sandwiches, pizzas, salads and entrées and cover a variety of cuisines from ethnic to hearty comfort foods, along with nightly changing dinner specials and seasonal additions. It is a natural extension of the store’s comprehensive prepared foods section, the Market-Cafe, where they offer to-go dishes prepared in their on-site kitchen from their own ingredients. The Pub takes that commitment to freshness one step further, with table service and ample indoor and outdoor seating, plus the full bar, where guests can choose dishes from the wide-ranging menu and enjoy them cooked to order.
Dishes include: Zucchini Fries with horseradish cream sauce; Steamed Chesapeake Clams with garlic-cheese-butter broth; The Cheese Burger, a hand-formed eight-ounce patty, grilled and topped with Adams Reserve cheddar cheese, Thousand Island dressing, leaf lettuce and vine-ripened tomato; Wegmans Signature Crab Cake Sandwich, served on a soft Vienna roll with remoulade sauce; San Marzano Margherita Pizza, served on their Indian-style flatbread with San Marzano tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, olive oil and basil; All-Natural Day-Boat Sea Scallops with citrus soy sauce; Lemon-Garlic Marinated Chicken Breast with chimichurri sauce; and Australian Lamb Chops with demiglace. Prices range from $3.50 to $17.
In addition, seasonal dishes, such as Sea Salt Edamame with matcha and fleur de sel and Honey-Brined Turkey Club Sandwich with applewood-smoked bacon, field greens, tomatoes and parmesan aioli, are added to the menu throughout the year, reflecting the best available ingredients.
“The Pub is a great option for so many diners: shoppers who prefer not to ‘shop hungry,’ people who live nearby and want a quick meal on the way home from work, even families who want to enjoy an affordable dinner without all the cooking and cleaning,” says Haines. “It’s all part of our ongoing mission to offer our guests the best and most comprehensive food experience, from shopping for groceries to enjoying dinner and drinks.”
To complement the menu, The Pub serves a wide variety of local, domestic and international craft beers, including such local favorites as Yuengling, Yards, Troegs, Weyerbacher, Philadelphia Brewing Co. and Victory, along with a number of Pennsylvania breweries on draught. They also offer a selection of wines from around the world, available by the glass or bottle, and an exciting list of original cocktails made from premium spirits and mixers, such as: The Philly Phlyer, Blue Coat Gin with triple sec and fresh orange juice; and the Jack O Rita, tangerine juice with Jose Cuervo tequila, Malibu Rum and a dash of Sprite soda.
The Pub at Wegmans is located at the in-store Market-Cafe and features a welcoming atmosphere with glowing mahogany and rich colors inspired by traditional English pubs, where guests are encouraged to relax with family or friends over a pint or a bite. The casual ambience includes a large, wrap-around bar and a comfortable dining room. For outdoor dining, there is also a sweeping patio with plentiful seating. The Pub at Wegmans is even spacious enough to be perfect for parties, business functions and other private events.
The store’s Market-Cafe was designed to feel like an European open-air market, featuring a variety of specialty shops and counters: the Coffee Shop, with amazing coffee blends from around the world, barista service and quick and easy breakfast items; the Sub Shop, where bread is baked fresh daily and subs are built to order, according to guests’ specifications, to create the perfect sandwich alongside just-baked chocolate chip cookies; the Pizza Shop, home to thin-crust pies with gourmet toppings, available by the slice and by the whole pie, along with a wing bar, calzones and at-home pizza making ingredients; the Vegetarian Bar, where specially trained cooks prepare hot and cold veggie plates; the Wokery, with traditional Thai and Indian dishes prepared fresh throughout the day; the Burrito Bar, for burritos, bowls, nachos and fresh-fried chips; the Sushi Shop, with cooked, raw and vegetarian sushi options rolled fresh daily; and Catering, for guests planning a large-scale event who prefer to let Wegmans handle the food.
“A simple grocery store isn’t enough anymore; our customers asked for fresh meals to go and dine-in options, and we listened,” says Haines. “Wegmans is now a one-stop shopping experience for a great meal right away, prepared foods for later and groceries for the whole week long.”
