No Beer @ NCAA Baseball Tournament @ PK Park

From the RegisterGuard:

Adults hoping to enjoy a brewski during the NCAA regionals baseball tournament will need to watch from a bar far outside PK Park — or from inside one of the park’s private suites.

NCAA guidelines prohibit the sale of alcoholic beverages for the duration of the tournament, which begins today and runs through Sunday, and represents the first postseason competition hosted by the University of Oregon since 1954.

While the UO has never allowed alcoholic beverages to be brought onto the PK Park premises, beer has until now been served in the aptly named “Fowl Territory,” a lounge area located down the park’s first base line.

Prohibiting the sale of alcohol has been a longtime policy at NCAA tournaments and championships, and the decision to eliminate it from this weekend’s tournament has not drawn much ire from fans, said Craig Pintens, director of marketing for UO Athletics.
