Follow along here as I connect two of my favorite topics….the planned IndyCar race in China has been cancelled because the date conflicted with the Qingdao International Beer Festival. As a result, there is an opening in the IndyCar schedule that MAY allow the IndyCars to return to Pocono. Details from USA Today:
IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard had been working with promoters in Qingdao to salvage the race that was announced last November.
New city leaders did not want to run the IndyCar event on Aug. 19 at the same time as the Qingdao International Beer Festival, and discussions began with IndyCar on moving the race to a new date or new location
When faced with a deadline, Bernard says event promoters canceled the race.
IndyCar has a contract in place with the promoter that needs to be resolved.
And, Bernard must find a new race for this season's schedule. He did not reveal what he's considering, but there's speculation IndyCar could pick up Pocono Raceway or an Oct. 7 second stop at Texas Motor Speedway.
Love to see a race at Pocono and on a regular schedule too. It's a about time that they come back to the area. With Nazareth chopped up and closed this heal that wound.
ReplyDeleteNazareth was a blast...I'd personally love to see both return. Maybe if Marco gets a few wins Nazareth will get back in!
ReplyDeleteThere is no more Nazareth Speedway, its gone....
ReplyDeleteI know...I live nearby. It was wishful thinking...
