From NewsChief:
BARTOW - Polk County's Board of Adjustment raised a glass Thursday afternoon to the idea of letting Legoland Florida sell alcoholic beverages.
The board voted 6-0 at its monthly meeting to grant Legoland a variance to a county code barring the sale and consumption of alcoholic drinks within 1,000 feet of a school or church. The vote followed a recommendation for approval from Erik Peterson, the county planner who handled the case.
Merlin Entertainments Group, the corporate owner of the Winter Haven theme park, applied in April for an exemption from the county code. Two churches are within 1,000 feet of Legoland's outer boundaries, Peterson said in his summary. Full details here.
