Lagunitas launched a series of Tweets last night speaking out against the use of Aluminum Cans for packaging. Citing the damage to the environment caused by the mining and processing of raw aluminum & Bauxite,, this thread will certainly awaken the glass vs can debate once again….and with just about every other brewery heading into cans, this should be an interesting debate to come….and I can’t help but think with people like Sam Calagione speaking out against the image-issues that cans cause for beer and threads like this that we may see a move toward more paper-based packages as well.
I buy cans when I drink outdoors, (rafting, boating, hiking, snowshoeing etc...) I salute Lagunitas for actually doing some homework on the issue and for having the balls to speak out about it.
