HERSHEY, PA – Six weeks after the arrival of brewing equipment from Germany the Tröegs Brewery project in Hershey, Pennsylvania is on schedule and moving forward.

“At this point we are planning on starting test brews in mid-September with production brewing starting in October,” said John Trogner, president of Tröegs Brewing Company. “The mill room is ninety percent complete and the brewhouse is near completion as well. Our filtration system and kegging line are in place awaiting hook- up, and fermentation tanks start arriving this week.”

The Hershey facility will include a 5,000 square foot tasting room with the new brewhouse as the focal point of the room. The tasting room will open onto an outdoor seating area. Off the tasting room will be a self-guided tour that visitors can see the entire brewery operation at their own speed. “Visitors in our tasting room will be sitting literally in the middle of the brewhouse,” said Chris Trogner, vice-president of Tröegs Brewery. “John and I have visited a lot of breweries over the years and we wanted to create an interactive facility where our customers get an understanding of what goes into making quality beer. We want to showcase what we do best.

“There are a lot of details to work out but we are shooting for a mid-October opening in Hershey,” added Chris. “As soon as we are up and running in the new facility, we will close our tasting room in Harrisburg and shift the tasting room and gift shop business to Hershey.”

According to Trogner, operations in Harrisburg will wind down through the fall as all equipment must be moved out of the current location at 800 Paxton Street before the lease expires at the end of the year.
