A big thank you to Carole Keenan from All Star Imports for sharing a bottle of Veldensteiner Weißbier (weissbier) with me last week on a visit to Georgetown Deli. Mrs. BeerBuzz and I broke it out tonight and sampled a nice tall glass of this traditional Bavarian Hefe. Veldensteiner Weißbier is packaged in a really cool 500ml ceramic flip-top bottle which I think is perfect for the beer and the tradition of this brew (and your home brewing friends will want your empty). This is a cloudy golden-colored traditional German hefe with notes of clove and banana in the nose and lots of clove in the palate. Our bottle was carbonated just right for me and we really enjoyed sitting out on the deck with this summer classic. I spoke with Carole & John Reeves from Northeast Eagle and they tell me we can expect to see more Veldensteiner in Northeastern PA…so stay tuned.
