Nope I’m not making this up….it came from Rogue….Apparently Rogue working with White Labs collected samples from the Chatoe Rogue hop yard, with little usable results. In a half-joking attempt at what I can only assume was good biology fun, White Labs collected 9 samples from brewmaster John Maier’s beard. In the end they DID find a usable brewing yeast strain and it is NOT Rogue’s proprietary Pac Man yeast. In the end, plans are to use the yeast for an updated version of Rogue’s Old Crustacean Barleywine to be named “New Crustacean” in 2013….Attention Greg Koch, Todd Mott, Todd Haug, Bob Cannon….(the date does NOT appear to be April 1st!)
