Wallenpaupack Takes Home World Beer Cup Silver

From Wallenpaupack Brewing:

Hawley, PA  — May 3rd, 2024 — Wallenpaupack Brewing Company proudly announced its inaugural victory at the World Beer Cup held last week in Las Vegas. The Pocono Mountain craft brewery claimed the Silver Medal in the Belgian-Style Strong Blonde Ale category for its Kroon Belgian Golden Strong Ale. With a robust 9.0% ABV and a rich blend of yeast-derived aromatics including pear, bubble gum, and cracked peppercorn, Kroon captured the discerning palates of judges at this globally recognized competition, often dubbed the "Olympics of Beer Competitions."

“The World Beer Cup has been our white whale beer competition, so finally hearing our name called and walking across that stage brought a flood of emotions including elation, pride, and relief,” said Wallenpaupack Brewing Company’s Head Brewer Logan Ackerley. “Our production team works tirelessly to produce beer of the highest possible quality, so it was really gratifying to see Kroon be named one of the best in the world.”

Hosted by the Brewer’s Association as the culminating event of Craft Brewers Conference, The World Beer Cup is one of two premier beer competitions organized by the Brewers Association alongside the Great American Beer Festival awards ceremonies. Serving as the pinnacle of recognition in the brewing world, this year's event featured over 9,300 entries from 2,060
breweries representing 50 countries. The rigorous judging process, overseen by 290 international judges from 37 nations, culminated in the celebration of excellence across more than 100 beer categories.

“World Beer Cup is the largest, most prestigious beer competition in the world,” said Wallenpaupack Brewing Company’s Owner & President Rebecca Ryman. “Winning here affirms our brewery’s spot— not only as one of the top breweries in Northeast Pennsylvania— but the country as a whole and we’re honored to be recognized by this esteemed panel of judges.”

According to Wallenpaupack, Kroon is part one of a two-part Belgian Strong Ale series with its counterpart— Trône Belgian Dark Strong Ale— slated to hit shelves later in the year. Wallenpaupack’s full portfolio of products can be found within a 12 county self-distribution territory throughout Northeast Pennsylvania with plans to increase their footprint soon. Please drink responsibly!
