Speaker Sessions & Workshops
Women and allies from around the world will share their journeys and stories, while panel sessions and workshops will give delegates actionable takeaways to help them with their own career progression.
Expo Area
A virtual expo area will allow delegates to talk directly to studios and other games companies about their career opportunities and showcase how they are supporting women within their organisations.
In addition, the event will feature an Ask Me Anything area and sessions - designed to bring professional women from all over the world together with experts in their fields. There is immense diversity of opportunity in the games and esports sectors, and industry-leading companies who care about gender equality will provide insights into how they support women in their ambition to progress. These sessions will prove invaluable for those who are currently working outside of the sector and are considering a career in games or esports, or for those currently in education planning their first steps.
Learning & Development
The wider tech sector is currently facing huge job losses, and while the games industry itself is faring better, there is an air of uncertainty, compounded by the cost of living crisis. The Women in Games Careers, Development & Networking Expo is a chance for women and girls to learn about the multitude of careers available in games, as well as highlighting the opportunities around learning new skills and switching career paths.
Women in Games recognises that career development and learning is crucial: both to individuals and to a healthy work environment and culture. The Careers Expos will focus on career development as a uniting sphere of action for both individuals and businesses.
Why is the saying ‘if you’re not growing, you’re dying’ so powerful? A lack of consistent personal and career growth can mean a lack of work satisfaction. Career growth is the journey towards your big-picture career vision. It’s the way you move from your first job to eventually leading your own team or running your own company.
Women in Games recognises that this is important to individuals and matters for companies, too — a lack of opportunities for advancement is one of the top reasons people quit their jobs. If employee retention and engagement are important to you, prioritising career growth is a great place to focus.
Networking
Building those all-important connections and relationships with other professionals is central to developing a strong reputation, increased visibility, a solid support network, improved business growth, and more impactful relationships.
Once registered with a ticket at the Careers and Networking Expos you can set up direct meetings with delegates from all over the world throughout the day-long event.
This is a global event, so the day has been curated to cater for all time zones, running from 9am to 10pm GMG. To register for the online event, click here.
March is Women’s History and Heritage Month, and our Careers and Networking Expo will take place alongside International Women’s Day as part of the rich calendar of global events celebrating women’s achievements and potential across all fields of society.
As the leading force for gender equality in the games and esports sectors, Women in Games will bring together our global community in a day-long exploration of what it means to progress and develop as a professional woman in the games and esports sector.
Women in Games CEO Marie-Claire Isaaman offered: “No-one knows better than game makers and players how important collaboration is to success, and the Women in Games Careers, Development and Networking Expo will provide a day full of collaborative, insightful, interactive sessions across global time zones. Designed to address our themes of progression and professional development, the Expo will provide inspiring talks, extensive networking opportunities, and this edition’s innovation, the AMA sessions.
“A successful career is built on knowledge, focus, experience, inspiration, insight and finding a work environment where you can belong - it’s a complex mix, but one foundational element that can’t be missed out is support. It is this particular element that makes the Women in Games Careers and Networking Expo so valuable. Attendees will be able to network with fellow professionals in a mutually supportive environment, and meet companies who are actively committed to gender equality and the tangible benefits that a fair and encouraging work environment can provide.
“And in a time of uncertainty for many, this event provides an opportunity for both studios still recruiting and women facing changes and how to take positive action towards developing and preparing themselves for engaging in new ventures.
- How can women break through whatever ‘glass ceiling’ they may encounter?
- How can companies that care about gender equality assist women in their roles and their progression?
