[Press Release]
On Friday, January 27, 2023 the King’s College men’s hockey team will faceoff against Alvernia University at the Revolution Ice Centre in Pittston, PA at 7pm. The great on-ice action between the two conference rivals will also be raising funds and awareness for Huntington’s disease. All proceeds from the game will support the Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA) mission to improve the lives of everyone with Huntington’s disease (HD) and their families.
One of those families is King’s College sophomore forward Jack Cooper. In March of 2022, Jack's mother passed away after a long battle with HD. Jack and his siblings are at risk for HD.
HD is a fatal genetic disease that affects the nerve cells in the brain that is described as having ALS, Parkinson's, and Alzheimer's disease all at once. Today, there are approximately 41,000 symptomatic Americans and more than 200,000 at risk of inheriting the disease.
