If you’ve followed along with any of my “#uglybakery” posts on social media, then you already know that I love baking and cooking as much as I love beer…and whether it’s an amazing rice & ramen bowl for dinner or Lemon Meringue Cupcakes and home-made ice cream for dessert, I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. zzubreebym
You may also know that my kitchen is a surprisingly small space to cram in stand mixers, blenders and other baking and cooking equipment. With all that in mind, I’m more than excited to get a chance to do a deep-dive on a new device that not only does a lot of kitchen tasks, but also saves space and money.
Today we’ll be test-driving the CookingPal Multo Smart Kitchen Appliance and I think after you read this article, you’ll want one too. The Multo appliance isn’t a one-trick-pony like many of your current kitchen appliances, and in fact it can take the place of your Slow Cooker, your Rice Cooker, your Sous-Vide Cooker, your Steamer, your Kneading Machine, your Blender and even your Food Processor. And as we progress, you’ll also see that the Multo uses much more smart technology than your other typically “dumb” appliances.
Let’s start with some stats on the Multo:
- The bowl size is 3.1-quarts
- The appliance weighs only 17-pounds
- The entire appliance measures 17.3-inches deep x 19.3-inches high x 16.5-inches wide with an 8.9-inches wide x 8-inches tall x 2.3-inchdes deep remote panel.
- The Multo requires NO subscription services like competing devices and it includes an ever-expanding recipe catalog
- All accessories are included
- Remote control is included
- Multo also has smartphone app monitoring making it convenient
- The Multo has a built-in scale that can go up to 175-ounces in .25oz increments

- A butterfly whisk is included (egg whites, whipped cream & sauces)
- Multo can perform deep and shallow steaming for healthier cooking
- Multo can knead using clockwise and counter-clockwise motion (with a safety latch for the blades)
- The Multo remote screen is IPX4 splash resistant with a large control dial, a non-slip rubber stand, a speaker, a camera and a long-lasting battery
- The Multo has functions for: Sauté, Steam, Knead, Chop, Scale, Keep Warm, Boil, Whisk, Grind, Grate, Mix, Stir, Grate, Turbo, Clean, emulsify & more
- The box includes a 3-piece steamer set, a custom lid and measuring cup, a butterfly whisk, a simmering basket, a spatula (BPA-free), a multi-purpose blade, a mixing bowl, the main base unit and the smart kitchen hub remote.
If that impressive list of features and functions doesn’t impress you, stay tuned for more.
Did I mention the Multo can also clean itself when you’re done? Yes it not only makes food prep and cooking much easier, it also makes clean-up quick and easy. The Multo uses 2 clean-up modes: Quick Wash & Deep Clean and all you need to add is some dish soap and water. The Quick Wash lasts 30-seconds and the Deep Clean takes about 3-minutes and it even heats up the bowl for more effective cleaning.
Now I know what you’re saying already…how much does the Multo cost? I should point out that while the Multo costs $999, that represents not only a savings of $500 over the $1499 Thermomix TM6 (it’s closest competitor) but also a significant savings (in cost and counter-top space) for all of the appliances that you can replace with just one Multo.
Multo also comes with video-guided recipes with step-by-step photos and video making it easy to follow along with even more complicated recipes. The recipes are broken down into categories (Breakfast, Main dishes, Side dishes, Desserts, Soups, Drinks, Spreads, Dips and Basics) and they make it easy for even beginners to master their recipes and the appliance.
The Smart Kitchen Hub device allows you to not only program and use the Multo, but also monitor it’s progress remotely so you’re not glued to your kitchen. The device is a dedicated tablet with convenient controls and easy setup and monitoring of your meals. The tablet also serves as a way to display the measurements on the scale for weighing your ingredients.
My test-drive of the Multo lasted over two weeks and I can say that I managed to try some of the basic functions as well as many of the advanced functions. The learning curve was fairly easy for me, and once I got the hang of setting the device up and following the recipes, I found it easy to make what I wanted. I started simply with steaming rice, and I should admit up front that I cook rice a lot and I dread the process on the stove. With Multo, the process with not only easy, but basically hands-free once you add your ingredients.
As we’re approaching Thanksgiving, I couldn’t resist making mashed potatoes in the Multo and the process was so easy, including clean-up that I will likely never go back to the old-fashioned way of making mashed potatoes. Over the weekend I set my wife loose on the Multo with no instructions; and in record time, she kicked out an amazing vegetable barley soup and made enough for her weekday lunches in short order. She had so much time left at the end of her soup, she also cranked out vegetarian chili and corn bread for our dinner.
I next decided to make some beer bread with a recipe from award-winning global chef & Cooking Pal culinary advisor Jamie Foy who has developed all sorts of great fall recipes for the Multo. (Check out some of Jamie’s other recipe videos here.) I’ve baked and tasted quite a few beer bread recipes in my days, but I have to say I think Jamie really came up with a good one. The process to mix, knead, ferment and ultimately bake the bread could not have been easier, and the resulting bread was light, fluffy, complex, loaded with flavors and it had great crumb. I could not believe how easy the bread was to make and just how good it came out; and I should also point out that the Multo kneaded the dough without getting the appliance hot or overheated like some of my other appliances.
From there my wife started using the Multo every morning to make vegetable and fruit smoothies, and I managed to create salsa, vegetable dip and even some spicy sweet potato & squash soup. The soup ingredients were easy to chop, mix, sauté and ultimately puree for soup…it was extremely easy to make simple and complex soups (and even clean up when I was done). It was also cool to follow along with the video recipes. Each recipe is flexible enough to help you figure out how many servings you’d like to create while automatically adjusting the ingredient quantities.
Next up, I couldn’t resist making Jamie Foy’s recipe for one of my favorite dinners, Falafel. The recipe was more complex than the previous recipes I’ve tried, but ultimately easy to make, and much easier that how I normally make Falafel. The Smart Kitchen Hub made it easy to prepare the ingredients and it even indicated when I needed to push the buttons on the actual Multo appliance. In the end, after adding the ingredients, I made the Falafel dough in 30-seconds and followed that with steaming the Falafel in 10-minutes and even making the Tzatziki sauce quickly and easily. If that’s not enough, I even figured out how to make Pita dough in the Multo and have hot and fresh Pita to serve the Falafel and sauce on. The time savings for prep, steaming, sauce, Pita and cleanup was really significant compared to my previous method for making Falafel and the Multo actually made it fun to make dinner.
As if all of that wasn’t fun enough, I finished up by making Jamie’s Chocolate Fondue for dessert. The ingredients and recipe were straight forward and the Multo made the process seamless which included weighing the ingredients and of course clean-up too. The fondue was delicious and we ended up finishing the quantity we made in one sitting (it was THAT good!). It was also cool that the Multo even kept the fondue warm.
Tonight we’re forking through Jamie’s Trio Of Pumpkin recipe and I’m currently in between steps and looking forward to another great Multo result (stay tuned for updates).
The CookingPal Multo Smart Kitchen Appliance has already become one of our favorite kitchen tools and the only problem I anticipate is both my wife and I wanting to be the one to use the Multo for dinner every night. In light of that, you may want to take advantage of CookingPal’s Thanksgiving Special to get a FREE extra bowl.
Overall we found the CookingPal Multo Smart Kitchen Appliance to be a really useful time-saving and space-saving appliance that has the flexibility and durability to do all sorts of functions. The Smart Kitchen Hub remote made the process of cooking fun and easy and the library of recipes continues to grow making it exciting to make dinner every night. The ability to monitor your Multo remotely made it really convenient and the fact that it cleans itself made the process of cooking and clean-up really efficient. If you love cooking but you have limited time and limited counter space, be sure to check out the Multo for yourself…and when you do try it, be sure to let us know what YOU think.
