Dock Street Wedding Beer celebrates love, marriage and good cheer. This beautiful new brew is introduced in cans that showcase symbolic artwork, and will only be available to caterers, wedding venues, and directly to couples by the case.
Sure, any beer you drink at a wedding is technically a wedding beer. But a true Wedding Beer, like true love, is hard to find, and this is the only local, packaged retail beer specifically created with ingredients symbolizing unity, purity (of heart), love, fertility, prosperity, and joy. It’s designed to sit comfortably alongside champagne and cocktails on a wedding drink menu, as well as look incredible in the hands of everyone from the newlyweds to partiers and on the bar-top. Real talk - couples and their families put a lot of thought into curating a beautiful wedding aesthetic and oftentimes invest a lot in great photography, so we want this beer to not only carry lots of special meaning and taste great, we also made sure it’s photogenic, too.
The stunning label features illustrations by frequent Dock Street collaborating artist Sarah Russell, who known for her vivacious painting style that balances sensually between whimsical and bold, with label design by Johanna Roebas. Elements found on the label include meaningful ingredients in the beer such as orange blossom honey, sage, and champagne yeast, as well as symbolic items like a birds nest representing a warm, safe and stable home life, a knot and an anchor, wheat shafts symbolizing wealth, luck and prosperity, and Eros, the Greek god of Love.
The campaign for Dock Street Wedding beer is especially significant as it features three couples with special ties to Dock Street. Isabel and Shawn James were the first couple to get married in the brewery at Dock Street South. Patrick McGettigan worked at Dock Street as a Social Media Manager in 2018, and he and his husband Chris Renjilian live nearby in South Philly and remain great friends of Dock Street as well as regulars. Mark Russell, who got married last September to Lauren Hanak, is our brilliant Head Brewer, and brewed this beer, among many others including award-winning brews. The campaign was shot on location at Dock Street by Ryan Spillman, best known for his work for brands including Wawa and Woodford Reserve with production and prop styling by Renata Vesey of Dock Street.
We are thrilled to be able to offer this beer in 16oz cans direct to consumers from our brewpub beginning in January 2023 - right in time for the Spring/Summer wedding season!
