Cartridge Anniversary, Awards + Specialty Bottle

From Cartridge Brewing:

Maineville, OH —As Cartridge closes out its sophomore year in the brewpub biz, this 2nd anniversary has been quietly building in commemoration … starting with a quartet of accolades to kick off the almost month-long celebration.  zzubreebym

Cartridge’s own head brewer Adam Mills was in attendance at the 2022 Ohio Craft Brewers Cup award ceremony on Oct 15 at the Dayton Beer Company – able to share each of the four wins in real-time with the entire team. Taking home gold were Up the Hill Munich Helles (top marks in the largest category in the comp, European Lager) and Hollowpoint Hibiscus Ale (Herb/Spice), as well as bronze for both Airborne Amber Lager (American Lager) and Smokestack Smoked Golden Lager (Smoked Beer).

“As a brewery that makes a wide range of lagers, it’s really great to gain this kind of recognition,” says Mills. “I’m really proud to have won three OCBC awards for our lagers … and even more impressive, all four beers are now two-time medal winners.”

But as the brewery’s official anniversary day approaches, there was also the question about how to honor that achievement and celebrate with fans. The natural answer came in the form of another specialty bottle release … Motto: Second to None Bourbon Barrel-Aged Coconut Imperial Stout (10.4%, 30 IBU) is full-bodied, barrel-aged, brewed big and bold – a brand-new stout commanding boozy bourbon notes in step with real coconut and notes of coffee, chocolate, vanilla and caramel.

More powerful, like others in the series, this new Motto pays homage to the 2nd Infantry Division of the US Army, a unique brigade stationed both stateside and in the Republic of Korea … the only remaining permanently forward-stationed division in the Army, and an enduring alliance exemplified by its steadfast members.

Motto: Second to None goes on sale tomorrow, Friday Oct. 28 at 3p, both on tap and in a limited quantity of specialty bottles. But the brewpub’s 2nd anniversary fun continues all weekend long with a “duo” costume contest as well as another new beer release on Saturday – Ricochet Double IPA (9%, 50 IBU) – and all-day Sunday discounted drafts.
