Chef Christopher Carpentier, Colombian-born, Lifestyle Enthusiast Paulina Vega, and International Architecture Firm James&Mau Join Corona's Mission to Protect Paradise
LONDON, March 11, 2022- Ahead of the highly anticipated opening of Corona Island , a destination designed to help visitors disconnect from their everyday lives and reconnect with the natural world, Corona today announced today the appointment of three global experts who will help shape the immersive island experience through food, design and lifestyle touchpoints. The design and programming of Corona Island will be led by a group of experts, including Jaime Gaztelu and Mauricio Galeano of James&Mau, Jairo Márquez, chef Christopher Carpentier and Paulina Vega, in charge of lifestyle and Culture.

In addition to welcoming new ambassadors, Corona is deploying other strategies, including striving to obtain Oceanic Global 's "Blue Verified" certification under the rigorous "Blue Standard" program of this international NGO, a global partner of Corona. Evaluation is underway and Corona Island is set to become the first fully Blue Verified certified island when it launches in the spring of next year.
James&Mau, an international architecture and design firm, will spearhead the overall design concept for Corona Island. The firm has a strong portfolio of bioclimatic and sustainable concepts and this knowledge is applied to the structures of the buildings on the island and to the bungalows of our visitors. Local architect Jairo Márquez, originally from Colombia, adapts the concept of James&Mau to the reality of the conditions of the island by relying on sustainable and local materials.
"In line with Corona beers, brewed with 100% natural ingredients, the structures on the island are carefully designed to complement and blend harmoniously with the natural environment, be it the sea, the beach, the flora and wildlife,” said Mauricio Galeano Escobar, architect in charge of work on Corona Island. "Our approach honors our collective and deep relationship with nature, inviting our visitors to stop, breathe and listen to the beautiful world around them and celebrate the natural environment."
Corona Island's sustainable culinary agenda will be defined by Chef Christopher Carpentier. Born in Chile and now residing in Colombia, Chef Carpentier is a regular guest judge at MasterChef Colombia and Chile . He runs several restaurants in the area. With two books and several culinary awards to his name, Christopher Carpentier will be able to offer the delicious and natural flavors of Latin America, directly inspired by Corona, which uses only natural ingredients.

In addition to design and cuisine, another component will play an essential role in the experience of our visitors on Corona Island. Indeed, workshops and excursions will immerse them in a lifestyle focused on sustainability. Former Miss Universe 2014, TV host and model in her native Colombia, Paulina Vega will be in charge of lifestyle issues on the island. A great lover of the beaches and curious adventurer, Ms. Vega will draw her inspiration from her Colombian roots.
