From Dogfish Head:
Event features special Q&A with brewery founder, pop-up record shop, DJs spinning vinyl and free gift for Milton residents.
Milton, DE , Thursday, August 26, 2021— As summer winds down, Dogfish Head ushers in the fall with its first-ever Harvest Festival, slated for Thursday, September 16, from 1-7 p.m. at the brewery’s Tasting Room & Kitchen in Milton. Starting in the parking lot, folks will be greeted by a pop-up record shop deemed “Paved Paradise.” Hosted by the Secretly Group, a global music label consortium comprised of Dead Oceans, Ghostly International, Jagjaguwar, Numero Group and Secretly Canadian, the expo brings the classic record store experience outdoors, with bins packed full of LPs, hundreds of 45s, cassettes and CDs, limited merchandise and DJs spinning all afternoon. At 6 p.m., the needle drops on a LIVE Q&A session with Dogfish Head Founder & Brewer, Sam Calagione, Numero Group Founder, Ken Shipley, and Paved Paradise Organizer, Amanda Colbenson. While fielding questions from those in attendance, the trio will chat about beer, music and everything in between.
"There’s no better way to welcome fall than with an outdoor festival celebrating independent music, community togetherness and of course, craft beer,” said Sam. “I am most looking forward to checking out all the awesome records our friends from the Secretly Group and Paved Paradise will be bringing to the event, an exploration of goodness that will be amplified by simultaneously sipping on a beer and listening to some analog tunes. No doubt, I’ll be taking home at least one new record … or maybe, more like five! I invite and encourage beer and music lovers across the Delmarva peninsula to make their way to the brewery to enjoy all the off-centered festivities.”
The fun continues inside the Tasting Room with a special edition of Dogfish Head’s iconic Vintage & Vinyl event. DJ Right On Radio will dig deep into his vinyl stash to find the perfect lyrical pairings for some delicious, vintage pours. BUT that’s not all! Members of the brewery’s Off-Centered Society loyalty club will enjoy double points on purchases all day and from 5-6 p.m., Dogfish Head will celebrate its annual “Milton Appreciation Night.” To show some extra love to its nearest neighbors, the brewery is offering all Miltonians a free apple fritter when they show their ID with a 19968 zip code. Throughout the day, the Tasting Room will also be pouring Dogfish Head’s fall-favorite Punkin Ale, a brown ale brewed with real pumpkin, brown sugar and spices, and serving a special beer cocktail made with a mix of lemon juice, a house-made orange maple pumpkin syrup and Dogfish Head Distilling Co.’s Straight Whiskey, topped with Punkin Ale and garnished with a dehydrated apple slice.
“All of us at the Secretly Group are thrilled to be working with Dogfish Head to bring Paved Paradise to music lovers in Delaware,” said Amanda. “Earlier this year, we embarked on a 15-stop, nationwide tour to share our outdoor record shop experience with people from coast-to-coast. We are just about halfway through that tour and given Dogfish Head’s longtime love of music, connection to the independent record store community AND all the awesome Harvest Festival events it has planned, I think this may be our most exciting – and fun – stop yet!”
