From Unibroue:
North America (Sept. 10, 2018) – A new Belgian-style dark specialty ale from Unibroue, Ale Gâteau Forêt-Noire (“Black Forest Cake Ale”), is arriving exclusively in the U.S. as a limited release in early October.
Brewmaster Jerry Vietz unleashed his creativity to dream up this sumptuous specialty brew for Unibroue’s 25th anniversary, based on the idea that “you can’t have an anniversary party without a cake. With roasted malt aroma, tart cherries, cocoa beans and dark chocolate flavors, I brewed Ale Gâteau Forêt-Noire to be pleasantly evocative of the classic Black Forest cake.”
This 10.5 percent ABV brew has a medium body and a fine, champagne-like effervescence. The roast and chocolate are complemented by delicate fruity accents and a slightly tart finish. Smooth and perfectly balanced, Ale Gâteau Forêt-Noire is the ideal accompaniment for Black Forest cake, cocoa-based Mexican dishes (such as mole), meat loaf, log-type goat cheese, and blue or comté cheese.
“Last fall we brewed two specialty ales to celebrate our 25th, but they were limited quantities and we couldn’t be everywhere at the same time, so our Strong Golden went to the U.S. and our Strong Dark went to Canada,” says Jean-Yves Lacombe, Trade Marketing Manager for Unibroue. “This fall we’re switching them around so that everyone gets a chance to appreciate both of these great specialty ales.”
There’s always something to celebrate, and Ale Gâteau Forêt-Noire is the perfect dark specialty ale to get your celebrations going. The icing on top is you won’t even have to give in to your sweet tooth! At just 20 IBUs, it will cellar well for use in future celebrations; recommended aging is five years.
The beer will be available in the U.S. while supplies last on draft, in four-packs of 12-oz bottles, in cork and cage 750-ml painted bottles, and as part of a seasonal variety six-pack.
Use the finder tool in the Passport App or Unibroue’s online United States beer finder to see which brews are available near you.
