From Cascade:
PORTLAND, OR . (August 8, 2018) – Cascade Brewing will release its Framblanc 2017 project on Friday, August 17. Framblanc is a blend of sour blond ales aged for up to 14 months in oak wine barrels with more than 3,500 pounds of white raspberries. Fresh flavors of raspberries, green grapes, white peaches and pears earned Framblanc the gold medal at the 2017 Oregon Beer Awards. The 2017 project will be available on draft and in 500ml bottles. The beer is 8.4 percent ABV.
About Cascade Brewing“The warm 2017 growing season produced beautifully ripened raspberries that contributed lots of fresh fruit flavor in this blend, making this project year one of the most expressive we’ve ever released,” explained Kevin Martin, Head of Brewing Operations for Cascade Brewing.
This marks the third 500ml bottle release for Cascade Brewing, on the heels of Kriek 2017 and Apricot 2017. The brewery switched from 750ml bottles to the new size with a commensurate price point; according to Cascade Brewing VP of Sales and Marketing Tim Larrance, the change has been very effective in increasing sales velocity.
Framblanc is a tier two offering, with pricing based on the style of beer, the type of ingredients contained within, the time aged in the barrels, and types of barrels used. It will be available at Cascade’s two Portland-area pubs – Cascade Brewing Barrel House and The Lodge at Cascade Brewing – and through the brewery's worldwide distribution network.
The next scheduled Cascade Brewing release will be the introduction of 500ml Rose City Sour in September.
