Surly Announces Darkness Day Ticket Packages & Guest Breweries

Surly Announces Darkness Day Ticket PackagesFrom Surly:

Here we go. The first two tiers of Darkness Day ticket packages are now available. A third, Darkness-less, general admission tier will be released closer to the party (which, as noted many times now, is Saturday, September 29 at Somerset Amphitheater in Somerset, Wisconsin). All tickets include a camping spot for you to use or disregard as you see fit. We’d prefer it if you stayed and partied with us, but you’re all adults.

Tier 1: 2018 Darkness Day Bottle Package: Campground access from 12 pm September 28 to 12 pm September 30, three (3) bottles of 2018 Darkness, four (4) beer tokens for use during the party: $120. Limit: 500. Purchase ticket(s).

Tier 2: 2018 Darkness Day Variant Bottle Package: Campground access from 12 pm September 28 to 12 pm September 30, three (3) bottles of 2018 Darkness, one (1) bottle of each Darkness variant (Rum Barrel-aged w/Coconut, Bourbon Barrel-aged w/Vanilla Bean & Cherry, Tattersall Fernet Barrel-aged), four (4) beer tokens for use during the party: $200. Limit: 1000. Purchase ticket(s).

Tier 3: General admission: Campground access from 12 pm September 28 to 12 pm September 30: $35. Available soon-ish.

If you’d like to upgrade your site for RV and electrical, that $25 option is available for those who embrace the RV lifestyle. There are a limited number of these sites, so if you really want one, snag it now.

A couple more notes:

  • As noted, camping is good for both Friday and Saturday night. If you’ve been to Somerset, you know there’s a lot of space to stretch your legs (or at least more than a Brooklyn Center office park), so make yourself at home for the Friday bottle share and Saturday’s party.
  • We will have live music on both Friday and Saturday!

Coming soon: the names of the bands, the guest breweries, food trucks, more.

UPDATE 17 Aug 2018:

One of the benefits of holding our 2018 Darkness Day celebration in Somerset, besides creating a better overall (and legally sound) experience than a cramped Brooklyn Center industrial park can offer, is that Wisconsin law allows us to spend our favorite weekend of the year with our craft brewing friends. Not only can we pour our own beer, but also invite our favorite breweries from across the country to tap a few kegs and join the party.

In addition to the staggering array of Surly beers (Darkness, flagships, rarities, infusions, casks) we’ll have available, 50-odd craft brewers will join us for Darkness Day. Some of them are down the street from us, some of them are in the middle of a damn ocean, some of them you can’t get locally. All of them fucking rule, otherwise they wouldn’t be here.

This is not a beer sampling. You’ll be able to purchase full pours of their excellent beers. Think of it as the best craft beer bar you’ve ever been to in your life, only it’s in a Wisconsin campground. The guest beers will be tapped on Saturday only; Friday evening is reserved for the bottle share, Surly casks, and some surprises.

We’ll be rolling out the complete lineup of guest breweries over the next couple weeks. Here’s the first ten.

Tickets are available now, from general admission to Darkness and Darkness/variant packages. All tickets include a campsite for you to use on Friday and Saturday night. You don’t have to use it, but we encourage you to party with us (and the bands, and the food trucks) all weekend long.
