San Francisco, Calif. -- Wednesday, May 30, 2018 -- When craft beer aficionados think of summer, they're dreaming of delicious cold beers overflowing with complexity and lush aromas with an ABV just right for long warm days enjoyed with family and friends. Fresh cut grass, pine, melon, juicy grapefruit, and tangerine are among the tasting notes from the madcap team of brewers at Speakeasy Ales & Lagers for their summer seasonal variety pack, "Suspects & Accomplices." This summer, Speakeasy Ales & Lagers unites the brewery's original members of The Mob, Prohibition Ale and Big Daddy IPA, with their full-flavored session beers, Baby Daddy Session IPA and Pop Gun Pilsner, for an enticing mix-pack with an array of bold flavors. Four exceptional beers in 12 oz. cans makes for the perfect summer day.
Speakeasy Ales & Lagers' new summer variety pack "Suspects & Accomplices" is now available nationwide through the brewery's network of distributors as well as at their taproom in San Francisco's Bayview-Hunters Point neighborhood. For detailed beer descriptions of the four brews included in the "Suspects & Accomplices" variety pack, please see below:
Prohibition Ale (6.1 % ABV)
Prohibition Ale is the first beer Speakeasy Ales & Lagers bootlegged back in 1997. Anything but traditional and now a Gold Medal winning GABF brew (2013 -- American Amber/Red Category), Prohibition Ale pours a deep reddish amber hue with a fluffy tan head that leaves a beautiful lacing on the glass. A lush, complex aroma teases the senses with juicy grapefruit, citrus, pine, spice and candied caramel malts. The mouth-feel is creamy, with a silky, medium body and modest carbonation.
Big Daddy IPA (6.5% ABV)
Big Daddy IPA is a hop-head's delight, a generously dry-hopped yet surprisingly drinkable American-style India Pale Ale. Poured into a standard American pint glass, the beer is a golden straw color, with tight carbonation and a slightly off-white head that leaves a lovely lacing. The aroma and flavor is earthy and resinous with subtle notes of fresh bread.
Baby Daddy Session IPA (4.7% ABV)
Baby Daddy Session IPA is sunny straw in color and loaded with hops. The aroma and flavor yield citrus and grassy notes: grapefruit, melon, lime, and a touch of spice will delight your palate. Baby Daddy Session IPA has a full yet balanced body, with a crisp finish and moderate bitterness.
Pop Gun Pilsner (4.7% ABV)
Brewed using the finest German Pilsner malt, Pop Gun delivers a clean full body with hints of honey and a touch of malty sweetness. German Magnum, Hallertau, and Saphir hops balance the malt with a crisp bitter finish and infuse the aroma with spice and floral notes. Prost!
About Speakeasy Ales & Lagers
Speakeasy Ales & Lagers has been defiantly brewing small batch beers in San Francisco's Bayview-Hunters Point neighborhood since 1997. The brewery started with a single iconic beer, still made today, Prohibition Ale. The hoppy amber beer embodies the spirit of bootleggers and gangsters who persevered when America's taps ran dry. Speakeasy quickly gained a loyal following with its bold, complex beers, and striking 1920s imagery. Speakeasy's kingpin Big Daddy IPA is the brewery's highest seller among its wide array of celebrated beers, from session ales to bourbon barrel-aged imperial stouts. In 2013, the Speakeasy Taproom opened serving thousands of local craft beer lovers with fresh draft beer to be enjoyed onsite or to-go in growlers and crowlers.
Speakeasy's original 15 barrel brewing system was replaced in 2015 during a major expansion, which included a 60 barrel brewhouse, centrifuge, malt handling system, canning line, and an additional 1,200 barrels of fermentation capacity.
Hunters Point Brewery LLC, a company founded by former owner of Horizon Beverage Company, Ces Butner, acquired the Speakeasy beer brands and brewing equipment in 2017. Under new ownership, Speakeasy Ales & Lagers will grow by leaps and bounds. The brewery's trademark eyes, ubiquitous and cryptic, beckon you to join our mob, no password required.
Speakeasy Ales & Lagers' taproom is located at 1195 Evans Avenue, San Francisco, CA.
