Some interesting news and an interesting new craft beer coming from Long Trail Brewing:
A few weeks back, Joe and Rebecca Pimental from Luce Farm came by our pilot brewery with a jar of honey.
It wasn’t your average jar of honey; theirs was a special formulation infused with hemp --cannabidiol, a.k.a. "CBD," to be exact-- grown on their scenic property just up the road in Stockbridge.
CBD is a naturally occurring chemical compound found in hemp plants. Unlike other, more famous molecules (ahem, THC), CBD is completely non-psychoactive. Its benefits are beginning to gain widespread recognition, and Luce Farm is at the forefront of the movement.
With the honey gaining a cult following around the brewery, our brewers were excited to include it in a small-batch brew.
"It sounded like a unique and interesting opportunity," said co-head brewer Ian Harbage. "It's a great local connection and a chance for us to try new ingredients and learn from the process."
The process becomes product this weekend when we tap the first keg on Saturday afternoon. The yet-to-be-named Hemp Honey Ginger IPA is brewed with Luce Farm's special CBD-infused Hemp Honey and freshly ground ginger with Citra and Mosaic hops.
We're tapping the first of two logs on Saturday, with the second set aside for Sunday. Meanwhile, Joe and Rebecca from Luce Farm will be on hand both days serving samples and selling some of their Hemp Honey and other homegrown goods.
Come on by and meet the farmers from 12pm - 4pm.
