From Dry Dock:
AURORA, CO — The much-anticipated release of Dry Dock Brewing Company’s Bligh’s Barleywine is upon us. The last of the 2016 Signature Series, this famed whiskey barrel-aged Barleywine will be released at North Dock on Wednesday December 14, and at South Dock on Friday, December 16.
“My favorite of these beers it the original, Bligh’s Barleywine,” says North Dock Head Brewer Alan Simons. “It’s a classic, and is perfect for warming your soul on a cold January day.”
Malty and complex, this big beer has a strong caramel backbone supporting oak and whiskey flavors with hints of dark fruits. The nose wafts of coconut, toffee, and a smooth hint of alcohol. The flavor and aroma meld, becoming one after just a single sip. This beer is ready to drink, but also ages with the best of them. It weighs in at 10.5% ABV and 20 IBU.
This larger-than-life beer is accordingly named after William Bligh, Vice Admiral of the Blue who was the captain of the HMS Bounty.Bligh made history when his crew lead a mutiny on board— the famous Mutiny on the Bounty— and he was set afloat in a small boat near Tahiti. Forty seven days later, the nautical hero arrived safely in Timor in the Dutch East Indies, an epic feat that created his long-lasting legacy.
Less than 200 cases of Bligh’s Barleywine will be distributed throughout Colorado. The beer will be on tap at South Dock and North Dock for a limited time.
