From The Lost Abbey:
San Marcos, CA, -- First released in 2015, Santo Ron Diego will make another appearance, this time with a slightly different flavor profile with the addition of Cherries, Vanilla, and Cacao nibs.
Aged in Rum barrels for 14 months, Santo Ron Diego starts with a base of a dark strong ale, brewed specifically to contrast and accentuate the sweetness of the Rum barrels. Santo Ron Diego is then rested on Cherries, Vanilla beans, and Cacao nibs.
“Getting a chance to work with rum-barrels again has been quite an adventure” said Tomme Arthur, COO and Co-founder of The Lost Abbey. “We were really happy with last year’s version but we wanted to add a bit more complexity to help bring the rum notes out with this year’s batch.”
Santo Ron Diego begins with a bouquet of Cherries, Vanilla and sweet oak that leads to burst of flavor on the palate. Dark bakers chocolate, sweet cherry and warming vanilla with just a hint of coconut, Santo finishes with smooth hints of sweet-spiced rum.
Santo Ron Diego with Cherries, Vanilla, and Cacao Nibs, at 13.5% ABV, will be available throughout the Lost Abbey distribution network beginning in December. Due to the limited amount of beer produced, this will be a draft-only release.
