BATON ROUGE, LA (March 2, 2016) — Anheuser-Busch is partnering with the American Red Cross to deliver more than 50,000 cans of emergency water to victims recovering from a series of more than 65 tornadoes that ravaged communities around Baton Rouge last week.

To assist residents in Baton Rouge and surrounding communities during their recovery, Anheuser-Busch’s Cartersville, Georgia brewery will send a truckload of clean drinking water to the Louisiana Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross. The water is scheduled to arrive on March 3.

“Anheuser-Busch has a longstanding history of supporting the Red Cross in their disaster relief efforts,” said Kevin Fahrenkrog, Sr. General Manager of Anheuser-Busch’s Cartersville Brewery. “We are proud to be part of that tradition of providing water and supplies to those affected by natural disasters nationwide.”

Local Anheuser-Busch distributor Mockler Beverage Company will work with the American Red Cross in Baton Rouge to distribute the cans of water to residents in need. The emergency water from Anheuser-Busch will supplement other recovery efforts from Red Cross disaster teams as they operate shelters and distribute relief supplies in the area.

Since 1988, Anheuser-Busch has donated more than 74 million cans of emergency drinking water following natural and other disasters. Earlier this year, the brewery sent more than 50,000 cans of clean water to Flint, Michigan as the city struggled to supply residents with safe water, and also delivered emergency drinking water to residents in two Oklahoma communities and St. Louis, Missouri.

Aiding communities during times of disaster has been an Anheuser-Busch tradition since 1906 when Adolphus Busch made a donation to the Red Cross for victims of the San Francisco earthquake. Today, in addition to providing monetary support as a member of the Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program, Anheuser-Busch packages emergency drinking water and works with the Red Cross and other emergency relief organizations for distribution to those in need.
