Mybeerbuzz.com Highlights Woodchuck Private Reserve Cherry & Day Chaser

Just when you think you’ve seen ALL of the unique and interesting ciders Woodchuck Hard Ciders can create, I bring you not one, but two new ciders that once again push our cider-boundaries.  And of course the only thing that can make that statement even more fun, is to get an opportunity for an early sampling before they hit the streets.

We broke the news earlier today, but this afternoon you get your first sampling-peek at Woodchuck Private Reserve Cherry and Woodchuck Day Chaser Semi-Dry….and knowing my taste preferences, we decided to try Day Chaser first.

Day Chaser is the latest year-round cider coming from Woodchuck and it is dedicated to those that seek to never let a minute of their day slip by.  This cider pours a really pretty and clear straw color and as always, the aromas are dominated (in a good way) by apple, apple and even more fresh apple.  The taste for me matches the description with some slight and clean sweetness up front and a semi-dry and very drinkable finish.  Day Chaser uses bitter and sweet apples and it is designed to be a “sessionable cider” at 5.5%-AbV.  We paired it with some sharp Vermont cheddar cheese and we loved the combo, and with or without the cheese, we found ourselves wanting yet another sip of Day Chaser.  This cider is available in 6-packs of 12oz cans and bottles so get out there and try it for yourself.

Up next we launched into the Woodchuck Private Reserve Cherry.  Now I’ll admit that I love all things cherry, but you can’t help loving this cider.  Private Reserve Cherry pours a rich cherry-red color (very pretty) and I found cherry and some roastiness in the nose.  Private Reserve Cherry uses Michigan cherries and the cider is then aged in Cabernet Sauvignon wine barrels from the Napa Valley.  The taste is loaded with tart cherry flavors with some sweet vanilla in the middle and an oakey roasty finish.  The v

influence of the wine barrels is present but not predominant and the cider has a really well balanced cherry, apple, tart, acidic roasty mix on board.  I really liked this cider and I think you will too.  Private Reserve Cherry hits 6.9%-AbV and it will be packaged in 12oz bottles.

Be sure to try both of these ciders for yourself and because it will be very limited, get out there and chase down some Private Reserve Cherry sooner rather than later.  Day Chaser is year-round so it will be more readily available very soon.  Try both of these great new Woodchuck ciders for yourself, and as always be sure to let us know what YOU think.
