River North Big City Quad Coming 9/12

imageWe brought you a peek at this beer, and now the release details from River North:

On Saturday, River North Brewery will release Big City Quad, a Belgian-style Quadrupel aged in two types of classic whiskey cocktail barrels: Manhattan and Boulevardier.

Big City Quad will be available on draft and in bombers-to-go ($15 each, half-case limit) starting at 1pm Saturday in the brewery taproom, at 2401 Blake St #1 in Denver.

After eight months of aging, quadrupel from both types of barrels was blended back together, creating Big City Quad 2015. An uptown exercise in ale opulence, BCQ coats the palate with decadent Belgian malt notes, finishing with a warming spice character imparted by the cocktail barrels.

“Our first rendition of this beer used solely Manhattan barrels,” River North Founder and Head Brewer Matt Hess said. “This time around, we decided to age our quad in two types of cocktail barrels to lend even more complexity to this one-of-a-kind brew.”

In the weeks following the release, more bottles will hit liquor stores in Colorado and Kansas City. Big City Quad can be enjoyed fresh, but the brewery also recommends you cellar a few bottles for up to five years.
