Allagash Brewing Co. has teamed up with Tonic Restaurant, located at 2036 G St NW, in Washington D.C., to celebrate its 20th anniversary with a special ‘Fluxus’ brew event on October 8th, 2015, beginning at 4 pm. The Maine-based brewing company’s annual ‘Fluxus’ release will be available on tap, with $1 from each glass served being donated to the George Washington University School of Nursing for nursing scholarships.

Since 2007, Fluxus has been brewed every year to commemorate the anniversary of the company’s first beer sold in July 1995, and $1 from every bottle of Fluxus beer sold has been donated to a scholarship fund for pediatric nurses at the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center. To date, Allagash has raised more than $160,000 for the hospital and donated more than $840,000 over that same period to local Maine charities.

The name Fluxus is Latin for continuous change, and every year Fluxus is brewed with a different recipe. This year's Fluxus is Strong Golden Ale brewed with a simple malt bill of Pilsner malt and - for the first time ever at Allagash - a large portion of maple syrup added to the kettle. The beer features aromas of strawberry, pineapple and lime, while the finish is balanced with a dry malty character.

After fermentation with a Belgian-style yeast strain, it is dry hopped with #06277 and #06297, two experimental hops that Rob discovered while selecting hops from the 2014 harvest the Yakima Valley region of Washington State. “I fell in love with those strawberry and lime aromas,” said Tod.
