From Stone:
For the third edition of w00tstout, our valiant collaborators—Fark.com creator Drew Curtis, actor & Web celeb Wil Wheaton and Stone CEO & Co-founder Greg Koch—banded together to revive the original recipe…with a chocolaty twist. As if the pecans, flaked rye, malted wheat and partial barrel aging that give this obsidian wonder its incredibly nutty, bourbony, roasty, silky-smooth character weren’t enough, a small amount of the stone-ground-chocolate-infused Stone w00tstout 2.0 was blended into the batch. Oh, and that portion of Stone w00tstout 2.0 matured in bourbon barrels for an entire year!
This outlandishly complex beer is arriving now in stores, bars and restaurants. Weighing in at 13% alcohol by volume, it’s a sipper: Let the beer warm up a bit to appreciate the wealth of flavors and aromas it has to offer. Enjoy it now or hold on to it for several months or years. Over time, it will develop deeper, rounder coffee, nut and bourbon flavors as the hop aroma and bitterness subside.
A rewarding twist of another kind: This year’s commemorative bottle artwork, by comic-book cover artist Dave Johnson, features the beer’s collaborators standing triumphantly in heroic, beer-making glory. Johnson donated his talents in exchange for our contribution to The Hero Initiative, a charity fund that assists golden-age comic book artists.
