From Portsmouth:
Cold winters are the perfect time for rich, dark ales that lead to a quite moment of introspection. In a winter like this, imperial stouts might be just the catalyst for dreams of spring or a conjuror memories of that green stuff that grows outside your house. What's that stuff called?
Royal Impy Stout (11.1% 50 IBU) is the biggest, boldest, darkest beer we brew at Portsmouth Brewery. It's such an undertaking, that we can only make once a year! This year's batch went on tap about two weeks ago. It's delicious, and the serving tank is pouring at a slow and steady pace.
If you want to see this beer move fast, stop by 56 Market Street this Saturday for our annual Royal Impy Stout bottle release. Here's the skinny:
-Like last year, Royal Impy Stout is bottled in cork-finished 375ml, bottle-conditionedbottles. They're very pretty, but there are only about 800 in existence.
-Bottles will be for sale in the Retail Store at 10am or through your server or bartender, after we open for lunch at 11:30am.
-Each bottle of Royal Impy Stout $10 and there's an 8 bottle limit per person. Of course, you gotta be 21 to buy them. Bottles will be for sale until they've all been sold.
-Last but not least, we've produced a limited run of men's and women's long-sleeved and short-sleeved 2015 Royal Impy Stout t-shirts. They're so limited that we don't even have proof images to share here; you'll have to take a look when you stop by.
Portsmouth Beer Week runs from February 21-March 2. Please help us support our local craft beer community at some of these great events!
